How to glow up in your 30s

Steps to glow up face at 30s

As you get older, the face starts showing signs of aging. It loses some of its elastin and collagen, and moisture retention often decreases. Dark and puffy eyes become common. And the occasional pimple you thought was your past can break out. This part of the glow up challenge is to get a radiant glowing face with minor changes in your daily skincare habits.

Start your day with a face cleanser

It is a wise habit to clean your face early in the morning. You need to make sure you use a face cleanser to open your pores and remove the excess oil that gets collected on your nose at nightBecause when you turn to 30s, with age the size of pores widens which traps more oil and dirt causing unwanted skin problems.

Just a single splash of water is not going to clean your face. For all skin types, the thumb rule is to wash your face properly with any mild face wash or anything that suits you.

Exfoliate for luminous skin

Often with aging, the regeneration of skin cells slows down. Our faces tend to look more dull and dark. The dead skin cells that accumulate on the surface need to be cleaned. To keep the skin looking young, ensure you exfoliate once a week

Some of the best exfoliants to incorporate in your 30s are lactic acid, salicylic acid, and retinol. Besides their cleansing properties, these acids work to support skin hydrating as well. To get the best results, you need to know your skin type.

  • If you have normal skin in your 30s, glycolic acid is your choice. It works great for pigmentation, scarring, and wrinkles which develop with age.
  • If you have oily and acne-prone skin in your 30s, salicylic acid is going to unclog the pores, treat mild acne, and wash off the excess oil.
  • If you have dry skin in your 30s, lactic acid is one of the best because it works as a humectant and keeps the skin hydrated.
  • For women with sensitive skin, polyhydroxy acids are worth considering because they are gentle to the skin.
  • If you have combination skin in your 30s, multi-acid exfoliants are great for your skin.

Practice a regular oil face massage

It’s never too late to start new skincare. Give yourself a 5-8 minute daily face oil massage especially if you want to keep your face looking fresh and young.

Before applying your hydrants, prep your skin with a few drops of oil on your palm and then gently massage with your fingertips in a circular motion. For better results, you can also use a Gua Sha stone, based on the Chinese skincare technique.

My most favorite oils for fave massage are:

  • apricot kernel oil
  • almond oil
  • avocado oil
  • jojoba oil

Recommended: wash your face to remove the extra oil.

Apply an anti-aging serum

In your 30s, your skin demands special ingredients. It is high time to get serious about subtle signs of aging. You should start investing in anti-aging skincare products. Serums are rich in active ingredients that target fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and other signs of aging. My personal recommendation is Skinceuticals C E ferulic Serum.

How to use: once you are done with your face cleansing, use your fingertips to gently apply the serum to your face and neck. Let it absorb for few minutes.

Moisturize Daily

The next step to a healthy glowing face is moisturizing. It is the foundation of skincare. Apply the moisturizer to your face, neck, hands, and feet. Even if you have an oily skin type, you cannot skip the need for hydrating. You should use it twice a day. It doesn’t matter whether it’s summer or winter, add moisture to your daily routine for a supple, dewy glow.

Wear your SPF

Sun damage is the most important factor contributing to wrinkle skin. Exposure to UV rays can damage the elastic fibers that are vital in maintaining skin firmness. So whether it rains or shine, winter or summer, always wear your sunblock that too with a good SPF before stepping out.

The one I use for my skin protection is Elta MD SPF 46. I have been using this for years and noticed great changes in my skin health.

Go For Regular Facials And Use Face Masks

If you really want to glow in a week or two, get a facial done once or twice a week. After that treat yourself with any hydrating face masks to calm down and soothe your skin. Face mask sheets like Mary Kay TimeWise Repair Lifting Bio-Cellulose is the best option. These sheets contain some essential vitamins and hyaluronic acid that works by penetrating inside the skin cell. And when used in a regular, it gives the same radiant glow of your 20s in your 30s.

Nighttime is the best time for skin rejuvenation. As your skin naturally repairs itself at night, your nighttime routine should be all about the treatment and giving your skin what it needs.

Remove the makeup

To get rid of skin acne or pimples, remove your makeup before sleep. You can use makeup wipes or as simple as rosewater to clean the face. The more detailed approach involves first using a cleansing oil to dissolve all the makeup and then a proper face wash with a regular face wash. So, it’s your choice which way you wanna go.

Toners, serums, and moisturizer

When it comes to nourishing at night, let your skin decide. For some nights it can be just washed, moisturize, and sleep. The other night it could be a treatment for any specific skin problem. Toners are water-based formulas for extra skincare. After toning your face, apply a regular serum for both day and night. Or if you’re following spot treatment for acne or scar, stick to that.

Add an eye cream

Dark circles are common in the 30s. This area around the eyes is very soft and delicate and is most likely to show signs of aging. Adding a good eye cream to your routine, will relax and moisturize the eye area, prevent puffiness and leave you with smooth, wrinkle-free skin around the eyes. My best recommendation is to use an eye cream that includes hyaluronic acid like Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair eye cream. Hyaluronic eye cream benefits are becoming more widely known, and can really make a difference to the skin around the eyes.

Take care of your lips

A number of changes occur in lips as you age. There are times when you feel your lips decreased in volume, lines and wrinkles are more visible and the pink skin started getting pale. Apart from swiping a lip balm, there’s more to offer to lips. Exfoliate and use lip scrubs on your lips in the morning or at night. You can also use your regular toothbrush and move gently over your lips. After this use a rich moisturizing lip balm and leave overnight. This completes your nighttime routine to glow up in your 30s.

Along with skincare, it is important to take care of other glow up requirements. You probably knew these ones. I’m talking about your body hygiene that’s an important part of glowing you. The first thing to do to have a glow up in your 30s is to:

Shape your eyebrows

Sounds nothing new. But eyebrows are the most visible facial features. They express emotions, add flare to your look. Get your eyebrows regularly trimmed, groomed. Plucking or tweeting the extra hair is a matter of few minutes with the right tool. It takes almost a week for the new hair to appear. If you have less hair around then invest in some good oil and use it daily to enhance your appearance.

How do you treat pimples after threading?

Take care of your facial hair

Well every one of us has facial hair. In some of us, they don’t usually show up because of the color. It’s completely ok if they are hidden. But those thick and dark hair around the chin and upper lips are unwanted and only ruin your style. Get rid of the facial hair by shaving, threading, or waxing. You can also choose some natural ways like bleaching or strips removal to avoid pain from threading.

Whiten your teeth

There is nothing more glowing than wide-open laughter. Just to mention some facts, Smiling makes you more attractive to others and Smiling makes you look younger and radiant. You definitely take care of your teeth when you smile. Your teeth should be white and clean. Brush your teeth with baking soda or hydrogen peroxide and eventually see the difference.

Treat your acne

Often when we reach our 30s most of the skin problems seem to go away. The only reason you have acne in your 30s is due to eating habits and limited skin protection. Use any good quality acne treatment cream at night on the spots like CeraVe night cream. Or seek advice from your dermatologist to get rid of pimples.

Check on the white and blackheads

Whiteheads and blackheads never go out of your life. Most of your natural glow is hidden because the surface is blocked with the dirt and oil trapped inside the pores. Removing blackheads often requires some professional help and once done it takes a few weeks to develop again. But Whiteheads are more common. They require regular clean-up. The best way to get rid of whiteheads is using a proper cleaning method.

Get a manicure and pedicure

How can one woman forget her hands and feet glow up? These are the most loved parts of her beauty. Book an appointment at your nearby parlor and get a clean-up. Manicure and pedicure is a long procedure from cleansing, massage to shaping nails. It’s good to keep your hands and feet beautiful, but let the professionals handle your skin once a week.

Experiment with new nail art

Well, this needs no explanation. Only a girl can understand how much she loves her nails and paints. It’s so common and pretty cheap to decorate your nails. As we age, we often lose interest in new trends and just switch to plain paints. But hey, if you have those long kylie nails, why not experiment with new art every day.

File, trim and protect cuticles

Along with beautifying your nails, keep them healthy and nourished. Use oils to grow your nails to a decent size, bring them in good shape, and apply petroleum jelly or castor oil to keep the edges soft and smooth. For foot nails, cut them on time and wear the right shoes.  Is it good to Push Back Your Cuticles to beautify nails?

Treat smelly feet

The most common problem with feet is the smell. Especially in hot weather. Wearing shoes for long times also makes them more smelly. The best way is to wash your feet with soap immediately when you come home. And for shoes spread some talcum powder before wearing socks.

Steps to make your hair glow up in 30s

Haircare doesn’t change much whether you are in 20 or 30. You can glow up hair with small changes in your regular hair care routine.

Take an oil scalp massage

Start taking scalp massages the moment you turn 30s. Like your skin becomes dry and loses its firmness, hair can becomes thin and brittle with time. Before taking a head wash, massage any essential oils like coconut or lavender to strengthen the hair follicles and lock them. Also, regular oiling helps to maintain the long-lasting shine and prevent damage from styling or heating.

Get regular trimming

Trimming is an extremely important grooming step to maintain the shine and overall health of your hair. Trimming once a month promotes healthy hair growth and makes styling much easier than ever. And in case you have frizzy hair, it is mandatory to get your hair trimmed more frequently to keep them under control.

Condition wisely

It is normal if your hair becomes slightly drier and finer in your 30s. Most of our body undergoes hormonal changes in the 30s, women during pregnancy and after childbirth often face hair loss. Conditioning and oiling are the only ways to bring the 20s glow up in your hair. Choose a good quality conditioner like Kiehl’s Amino Acid Conditioner and apply at the ends and strands for 5-8 minutes and then rinse off.

Tie loose while sleep

Most of the time your hair damages is while sleeping. Tying your hair can be painful sleeping, so wear your hair in a loose ponytail that doesn’t apply much pulling force and thereby preventing knots and breakage.

Go easy on hairstyling

You don’t have to use products to make your hair look good. It just needs proper hair care and management. In your 30s, the best hairstyles are somewhat sleek and more simple. When you have clean hair that’s fragrant and neatly combed, you’re good to go!

So, skip your heating or curling for some days to get healthy hair.

Go for Hair Keratin

Instead of damaging hair every day with products and then making efforts for their care. The best option to glow up is to get a keratin treatment. This is a professional salon treatment that can deeply moisturize your hair, fill in the cracks and gaps on your hair cuticle, and make your hair smooth and shiny.

What you eat and do makes a huge difference in your glow-up. What I am talking about adopting a healthy lifestyle to boost your confidence and ultimately the glow.

Drink enough water

Drinking enough water is the best and only way to flush out toxins and get clear skin. Apart from glowing skin, you can slowly tighten your skin and improve the wrinkles and fines lines that appear with age. Not only should you drink a lot of water, but keep your minimum intake of eight glasses a day

Follow a healthy diet

Want to glow up in a week?  The secret lies in your kitchen. Infuse healthy vegetables and fruits into your diet. Focus on basic vitamins requirements for a week like:

Vitamin A to promote the growth of healthy skin calls    beef liver, sweet potato, spinach, carrots
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) to boost collagen level    cereals, dairy, mushrooms, almonds
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) to prevent wrinkles around the mouth  chickpeas, poultry, salmon, potatoes, bananas
Vitamin C to prevent sun damage      citrus fruits, bell peppers, kiwi, broccoli, strawberries

Detox from inside outside

Detox your body from inside out once a week.  It helps you get rid of toxins and impurities which results in flawless skin. Add some detox drinks in the morning or in the afternoon. Some easy drinks you can prepare on your own:

  • Lemon detox drink

Take water in a jar and squeeze a lemon into it. Add a few slices of oranges, pineapple, kiwi and other food sources of vitamin C. Allow this water to cool and drink it throughout the day.

  • Apple cider vinegar detox drink

To prepare this drink, take 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and add it to about 2 liters of water. You can add some amount of honey to this mixture. Drink this through the day. Do not drink more than 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a day.

  • Detox tea

Green tea is also a detox tea. You can also prepare your own by boiling some herbal leaves in water and add honey or turmeric for 5 minutes. Drink it as after-break tea.

Exercise daily

Last but not least is exercise. 30 minutes daily workout is enough to release all the toxins through sweat. In this half an hour perform intense training, aerobic is also another way to exercise every muscle of your body.

Change your scent

Often reaching your 30s, you stuck to one old fragrance. It’s time to change. Buy some woody notes for nighttime and flowery scents for the morning. Changing your perfume is an easy way to switch up your mood or channel a different part of your persona.

Ways to glow up your wardrobe

how to glow up in your 30s

Many of us miss that our wardrobe plays an important part in making us glow. If you can understand from this, it is confidence. If you want to glow up, the best thing you can do is learn to be more confident with your dressing.

Make small changes to the style

Start by making minor changes in your style. You need to add high-quality outfits to your 30’s wardrobe. A high-end blouse with ankle-length pants and a branded handbag will truly make you look elegant and classy.

Try backless dresses

Dress up backless on date nights and parties, flatter your curves and embrace yourself at the moment. This will add up to your self-confidence and boost your mood and radiance.

You can even glow up in the same old dress with the right accessories. Experiment with new jewelry, scarves, glasses, hats daily.

Invest In Undergarments

Undergarments are not visible but are essential. Investing in the right undergarments is a must-do step in your 30s if you haven’t done it in your 20s. Buy some good quality and if possible the branded ones. Lift bras make you look more slim and young. Your posture improves and so does your confidence.

Wear dresses that fits

A designer piece can look disaster if it doesn’t fit well. You are not going to fit in every standard size, alternations are needed. You can still wear your boyfriend’s jeans but make sure it is your size and length. Above all, it doesn’t matter what your age is. You just need to learn what to wear to look good at your age.
